The largest kite festival in Belgium took place again, alongside the Volkswagen bus festival, so we couldn’t miss it. In 48 hours, we experienced nearly all seasons, but nevertheless, we had a cozy kite festival with friends.

Saturday didn’t start off very promising. After getting up, we saw it was raining…

But once we got to the beach, miraculously, there was no rain to be seen. However, there was a strong wind,

So we quickly got a kite up in the air. Given the strong wind, we had to make some adjustments.

Once it became clear that kite flying was manageable, we could quickly add more into the kite line.

Or on the beach

Just to be safe, I had brought my sail to protect everything from the rain. Everything was ready, but luckily, I didn’t have to use it.

In the late afternoon, the wind picked up even more.

For safety reasons, I brought all my kites down.

Besides my kites, there was of course much more to see on and over the beach.

After cleaning up, it was time for dinner and socializing with the kite team. Then it was already time for…

Sunday also had some rain in the forecast.

As the day progressed, the weather got better and better.

Prepared for the strong wind, I anchored my Flowform with a double big bag.

Although sometimes I wonder if we aren’t mountain climbing…

Once everything was well anchored, I quickly got two of my favorite kites up in the air,

Sparky and Yako for the win!

The day got better and better by the minute, and the wind was quite stable,

So Taikipus could go up without much trouble.

The wind was so good that I could fit the entire Team Sushi under Taikipus.

Besides my kites, there was again much more to see on and over the beach today.

At the end of the day, when all the kites were put away, we grabbed a bite to eat, and then started the journey home.

After a 45-minute drive for me, the trailer was back in its familiar spot.

Conclusion

Despite the weather’s ups and downs, it was a fantastic festival.

We’re already looking forward to the next edition in 2025!

Intermezzo

What does the Taiki mascot do when everyone is at the kite festival?

Among other things, swinging

Apparently also sliding down the slide

But I think table football is better played with two people.
