We had to wait no less than 2 years due to work on the beach at Callantsoog, but this year it was FINALLY (I may say) time again! As usual, we were back at our spot near beach pavilion De Stern for an amazing kite weekend at what can be called the largest kite festival in the Netherlands.

After a long drive of about 4 to 5 hours, we arrived in beautiful Callantsoog.

Traditionally, we always visit our beach pavilion. While we were there, we also tasted the delicious food.

And I can only say one thing about it: highly recommended.

After discussing everything with De Stern for the upcoming weekend, we took a closer look at the beach.

Then it was time to head to our vacation cottage. This was located on a farm.

We started the day off well, waiting for a drawbridge…

After this small delay, we headed towards De Stern, and once we arrived, we started bringing the kites to the beach. Kite Mover 3 helped me out a lot again!

As we launched the kites, it quickly became clear that this was going to be a great day.

For the first time, I had both my 7.0 flowforms. I used the tails from my HQ canards. This created a real spectacle in the sky.

Attached to one flowform was my turbine.

And on the other, Sparky and Yako.

The kite flying was going so well that we had 7 kite lines in the air between the three of us:

  1. Paw Patrol: Chase, Marshall, and Skye
  2. Team Suschi and Taikipus
  3. Stitch and Angel
  4. Yako and Sparky
  5. An octopus
  6. The turbine
  7. The brand-new Spongebob character line

Given the size of this festival and how vast it is, we didn’t manage to make a round this time. But I still tried to take some photos of the other kites there were to see.

At the end of the day, when all the kites were down, Kite Mover 3 could be used again to bring the kites back to the trailer.

A new day and a new horse…

What we had just a bit too much of the previous day, we had just a bit too little of today,

namely wind! Perfect for testing the rotor.

It had just returned from repair.

And it works great, the repair seems to be a big success.

Our neighbors also started flying their kites quickly.

I also had a visit from this little sweetheart Benjamin.

You can follow him on Instagram:: @benjamin_the_maltese

I mainly focused on my rotor today and helping the neighbors. Still good for 4 lines.

As 5 PM approached, it was time to say goodbye to the cottage, the beach, the beach tent, and this wonderful weekend.

Conclusion

This edition of Callantsoog definitely ranks in the top 3 best kite festivals I have ever participated in.

I am already looking forward to the 6th edition in 2025!!!
