Earlier in the kite-flying season, we had the idea to go kite-flying again at Brouwersdam. And so it happened.

Saturday, September 14
At 6:15 on Saturday morning, I left, which for me was relatively early, from Taiki HQ heading towards Brouwersdam.
I had a 2.5-hour drive ahead of me.
After passing the tunnel near Terneuzen and the Zeeland Bridge near Colijnsplaat, we finally arrived at Brouwersdam, where we began setting up the tent.
Once the tent was up, it was time for the kites. Stitch and Angel were quickly in the air.
These kites don’t need much wind as they are relatively light.
I set up my rotor again. Because of its large surface area, it catches a lot of wind, even with a light breeze on the ground. Once the wind picked up, the rotor, as usual, started spinning.
As the morning progressed, more and more kite flyers arrived on the beach.
More kite flyers also meant more kites in the sky. The wind also started to pick up.
Below is an impression of what there was to see on the beach throughout the day.
As the day went on, the local press also came by for an interview with the friends from ‘Vliegeren is voor Iedereen’.
From the dunes, our meeting looked spectacular.
At the end of the day, after all the kites were packed up, we stopped by the snack bar for fries to round off what had been a more than successful day.
In Memory of Nick James
Nick, an English kite flyer who was known worldwide, recently passed away.
In memory of Nick, we flew several Angel kites at 2:00 PM.
These kites were designed and made by Nick himself and were the perfect kites for this tribute.
Conclusion
It was a very enjoyable day and a super successful kite-flying meeting. Definitely worth repeating!
