Kitefestival Westende – 2025

It was once again the weekend of the year — the kite festival of all kite festivals in Belgium: The Volkswagen Bus and Kite Festival of Westende 2025.

After heading down to Westende on Friday, the party could officially begin.

After being gently rattled awake by thunderstorms during the night, it was time to properly start the day.

Once Kite-Mover 3 was unloaded, it was just a short walk to the beach.

After finding a nice spot on the sand, I had my first kite up in no time.

Next, Sparky also got a chance to enjoy the beautiful sky.

I also quickly set up my rotor, along with the warning flags.

As soon as Team Sushi’s kites were up in the air, a mist rolled in, creating a rather unique view.

Of course, Yako couldn’t be left out either.

In the afternoon, the weather cleared up beautifully, and even more kites filled the sky.

After dinner, we went to the beach to test out a new night kite from Vliegeren is voor iedereen.

Together with their octopus kite.

Sadly, my own Sparky couldn’t join for the night flight — the batteries hadn’t made it to Westende.

After a refreshing night’s sleep, it was time to go kiting again on Sunday. Though the day started grey and gloomy…

That didn’t last long, and soon we had perfect kite weather.

We even got a short visit from the coast guard. Hopefully, they enjoyed the view of all the kites.

The wind was steady and ideal; besides the many other kites and spinning objects on the beach, I set up three lines myself:

HQ Flowform and my Turbine

Taikipus and Team Sushi

HQ Flowform and Sparky

Next to me, the BroSky kite brothers were giving a synchronized demo with their four-line Revolutions.

And there was still so much more to see.

What an amazing festival that I honestly didn’t want to leave. But unfortunately, the weekend had to come to an end, and now I can only look back on this wonderful weekend spent with kite friends.

Next year, I’ll definitely return to do it all over again!
